The Center for Spiritual Living, which holds it services in the former Cal Skate building on Occidental Road, is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. In addition, its longest-serving minister, Dr. Edward Viljoen, marks his 20th anniversary. To celebrate, the Center is holding two events this month.
Friday, July 25, at 7 p.m., the Center is hosting a fundraiser dinner at the Hilton Wine Country Hotel, situated on the hill above the Round Barn. Festivities include a no-host bar with appetizers on the patio, followed by a three-course dinner in one of the hotel’s private dining rooms. Tickets are $100 and seating is limited.
Saturday, July 26, at 7 p.m., Music Director Christopher Fritzsche and the Music Ministry will present a concert with old favorites and some new material. Tickets are $15 before noon on Friday, July 25, available online, and $20 at the door.
The Center for Spiritual Living, which was founded in 1954 under the name First Church of Religious Science, Santa Rosa, began in a residence on Clark Street and has moved to various locations throughout Santa Rosa until finding its present location at 2075 Occidental Road. The congregation had a skate party before the renovations of the former skating rink began. The Centers for Spiritual Living, which are found across the globe, are based on the Science of Mind philosophy of Ernest Holmes. For more information on the Center and the anniversary events, visit cslsr.org or call 546-4543.
