Greetings, at rehearsal to day for the Charles Rus and Friends concert, I got to hear what the new Klop organ, built in 2009 and acquired by Sonoma Bach for use in its early music concerts, can really do.
From Klop Organ’s website:
“Henk Klop, specialist in baroque keyboard instruments and builder of authentic organs and harpsichords. Your challenge is to bring centuries-old music back to life. Our challenge is to build the right instruments for you to do just that.”
From Sonoma Bach site:
“Keyboardist extraordinaire Charles Rus joins with cellist David Morris and longtime Sonoma Bach favorite Christopher Fritzsche to present a fascinating recital of northern European Baroque music. Charles will play the Klop positiv organ picture above. Composers featured include Michael Praetorius, Sweelinck, Schein, Scheidt, Bruhns, Buxtehude and J.S. Bach.”
A BachGrounder begins 45 minutes prior to the concert. This half-hour lecture-demonstration focuses on the music and its background, the instruments to be used in the concert, and aspects of interpretation and performance practice.
