Pergolesi's Baroque masterpiece, the Stabat Mater

Spring Greetings,

I'm writing to let you know that soprano, Carol Menke and I will again be performing Pergolesi's Baroque masterpiece, the Stabat Mater accompanied by Marilyn Thompson on organ in the beautiful sanctuary of St. Vincent's Church in Petaluma.

The concert is at noon, this coming Good Friday, April 18, 2014.

I LOVE performing this concert as part of St. Vincent's Good Friday service. The piece is a setting of a famous poem depicting Mother Mary as she observes the crucifixion. Sound's like it might be very somber music but Pergolesi's setting is actually quite varied - with some very joyful and passionate sounding music as well as gorgeous, slow duets and arias.

This is a free event.

The service starts at noon and goes for about 45 minutes total.

St. Vincent's Church is at 35 Liberty St. in Petaluma.

Come and sit in a visually beautiful setting (the mosaic that is the Center piece of the back altar wall was designed by Tiffany!!) and let this lovely music wash over you as we serenade you from the balcony.

Hope to see you there,

Chris
